Strange Conversations
After helping the customer with his little computer problem on my daily job as MSN Tech Support, I found myself asking him if there was anything else I could do for him at the moment. The conversation (with no fictional parts whatsoever) goes as follows:
MSN Customer: Nope, that's about it. But I would like to ask you something, if you don't mind.
Zevaz: Go ahead.
MC: Are you located in India?
Z: No, I'm in Argentina.
MC: Oh, I see! Are you OK there? Well, I mean I know you're not OK, but are you safe, at least?
Z (totally puzzled) : Uhm... yeah, we're OK. Thanks for your concern!
MC: Oh, you know, I really would like to express my concern 'bout all of you. My condolences to all of you there.
Z (even more puzzled): Oh... OK... Thanks for asking.
MC: Bye, now, take care! Thank you!
Z: You're welcome, Sir, and thanks for calling MSN. Have a nice day and a happy new year!
MC: You too, bye!
(and with that, he disconnected the call)
Now, what did he mean by that? Why was he expressing his concern towards Argentina? Did he really understand that I was not in India, but in Argentina, and that the whole Tsunami thing didn't even bypass my location? Did he just choose to hear "Yes, I'm in India"? Or does he really pay that much attention to International News, where there might have been a hint about that accident at the local concert? And why the fuck am I writing in English in the first place?!
